Fabulous Facades

The word facade means the ‘face’ of outward appearance of a building. In this class we are going to recreate a facade of a building in fabric. The building can be modern or old, a public building, a private home, a shed, a sky scrapper or a church. There are so many wonderful buildings to inspire us. After looking at a number of colour schemes participants can then decide to use a very different palette or stay with the original colour scheme for their own design. As part of the construction technique we will look at the layers of the building and construct each layer separately. Main features will be outlined with a thin dark line to create a more graphic image.

Gloria Loughman
I have been teaching patchwork classes for many years and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with others. I like to challenge my students to design their own quilts but I am also happy to provide patterns for those less confident.
What began as a therapy has developed into a passion and has given me the opportunity to travel the world exhibiting my quilts, teaching classes and meeting lots of wonderful people.
